CEPS PhD student shortlisted as an inspirational entrepreneur to watch in 2025
Congratulations to Georgina Leadley, PhD researcher on the CEPS programme, on being named in the #21toWatch 2025 shortlist. The coveted award spotlights inspirational entrepreneurs and game-changing innovators from Cambridge and the East of England.
Georgina Leadley has been nominated in the final seven remarkable individuals in the ‘Top 21 to Watch’ for 2025. She is a PhD student at the University of Cambridge, researching non-invasive brain imaging for newborns using NIRS and DOT. Her start-up, SLICE, aims to use ultrasound technology to create pioneering ice-crushing tools for transplant surgeons.
Candidates are judged against five criteria: innovation, the ability to address a real challenge, influence, viability and memorability.
Tom Hughes, an experienced early-stage investor and advisor, and mentor at Trinity College Cambridge, and one of the judges, said: “The variety and depth of this year’s finalists showcases the intellectual capability of Cambridge and the East of England.”
Faye Holland, creator of #21toWatch, added: “The people, companies and innovations on this list are the future, and the future is looking very bright.”
The winner of the Top21 of 2025 will be announced at a ceremony on Thursday, 6 March 2025.
We wish Georgina the very best of luck.
