CEPS CDT student wins best presentation at OWC symposium

PhD student Yee Hui Low wins the prize for the best presentation by a PhD student at Rank Prize symposium on Optical Wireless Communications

Symposium on Optical Wireless Communications

A three-day Rank Prize symposium on ‘Optical wireless communications (OWC) in challenging environments’ was held in September 2024 at Leeming House Hotel, Lake District, UK. The symposium brings together leading and early career researchers (ECR) to discuss recent and prospective developments in OWC technologies - including photonic applications - specifically for deployment in challenging environments.

The meeting is held to consider a wide range of topics related to Optical wireless communications (OWC) in a common discussion forum, to encourage technical exchange across sub-discipline boundaries in what is a very rapidly evolving field.

CEPS student wins Best Presentation prize

The technical presentations from all the ECRs were outstanding. The organisers awarded a prize for the best presentation by a PhD student. This year's winner was Yee Hui Low, a student registered at University of Cambridge on the CEPS CDT programme. Yee Hui delivered the best presentation in the PhD category for her talk entitled ‘Linearization of directly modulated lasers for enhanced optical wireless communication’.

Congratulations to Yee Hui!
