
Professor Daping Chu elected a Fellow of Optica
CDT Director, Professor Daping Chu, has been elected as a 2025 Fellow of Optica, in recognition of his seminal contributions to display devices and his broader impact on industrial applications.
Fellows are Optica members who have served with distinction in the advancement of optics and photonics. Selection is based on several factors, including outstanding contributions to research, business, education, engineering, and service to Optica and the community.
This prestigious honor highlights Professor Chu’s exceptional work and leadership in the field of optics.
About Professor Daping Chu
Prof Daping Chu is the Cambridge Site Director for the EPSRC Centre of Doctoral Training in Photonic and Electronic Systems (PES CDT). He is Nanjing Professor of Technology and Innovation at the University of Cambridge and the Director of Centre for Photonic Devices and Sensors (CPDS) at Cambridge. Daping has a Doctorate in Physics and his research interests include: high information bandwidth spatial light modulators, tunable metasurface, optical computing, optical switches, holography, 3D displays and AR HMDs and HUDs, with the aim of application and commercialisation.
